Meet the Author

Hi! My name is Vikki Velasquez and I am a dedicated yogi.

In 2013, I was suffering from back pain due to sitting at my desk job. It was then I went to my first yoga class and my life changed. I didn’t realize it as it was happening, but steadily, yoga became a wellspring of inner strength and softness I had never had before. To this day, it still keeps me grounded, centered and flexible when the world decides to turn upside down and inside out.

After practicing and studying yoga for over a decade, I earned my 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2024 as well as a certification in Yoga Nidra. I first began yoga teacher training to become more familiar with anatomy and yoga sequencing. By the time the training was complete, I was fascinated by yogic philosophy, particularly the yamas and niyamas.

I created Cultivating Chill as a safe space to explore the wide world of yoga. My writing is informed by personal experiences, yoga philosophy and yoga science.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, with a minor in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Professionally, I am a copy editor who is always seeking new partnerships. If you enjoyed what you’ve read at Cultivating Chill and would like to collaborate, contact me anytime!

I welcome you to Cultivating Chill with an open heart. I hope you find knowledge and inspiration to live a yogi life and find your higher self.

With Sincere Love,

Vikki

Namaste!
